From stasis to evolution

I will give you a very palpable example full of the `mighty sweet elixir’ that is corruption …the juice that flows profusely in India – I have seen with my own eyes , felt it by sitting on my nerves bursting at their ends. Why was I chosen to burn in this inferno …?? Inferno where I `sacrificed’ and merrily so…

I was offered crazy crores of rupees (50 crores and many like 5 flats) and threats `galore’ of being waylaid and raped – of being murdered and defamed – -But lo and behold what a roller coaster I was on …I was most unrelenting..i was tougher when the going got tough…

This was about 15 acres of land in kohat enclave, pitampura, new delhi,  delhi, 110034 – 8.75 meant for education and the rest of it for parks and public amenities – this land was being eyed to be swallowed by vested interest who left no stone unturned to rob and plunder this public largesse and indulged in every unholy nexus to do the same .

I intervened in 2009 in a Right to Education petition

of 1995, namely W.P. ( C ) 4489/1995 as respondents and as the petitioner PRATIBHA CHOPRA in WP (C ) No. 10136/2009…

If I had not intervened there would not have been anybody to tell the true story to the Delhi High court and the Supreme Court of India. Not everybody even in the Union of India was above board and most of them were reluctant to even bring the true  documents to the  court…it was my emphatic intervention that the court first could not believe for it was absolutely selfless but then my relentless stand urged the court to reprimand the vested interest and those agencies of governance who were siding the crony business and political interests leading to unholy nexuses.

I just did not give up…for I was hell bent to have a look at that bottomless pit of corruption …Turn it upside down and pack it lock , stock and barrel.

This creature called corruption was like a man’s dick which hardens for a little streak of  a sexy ooze of a woman, this dick then along with a pea-sized brain of a man at that moment blames it on the woman…that bitch… that temptress of nether world.

Now this creature dick ( read corruption) blames it on the glamour of paradise that lures it ad infinitum, so the dick complains…

Now you stop complaining you dick … And just behave … Behave yourself for your aimless banter, your hydra-headed corruption is stabbed left, right and centre…back and forth for you to stay put.

But why did I take this task head-on?

For the education of the girl child. It exhilarates my being to watch the 12 to 15 hundred girls go to school , all of them belonging to the underdog hubs.  What a baptism does reading and writing give to them !  This was my imagination.

I was not baptized by any religion but that my motherland brought us to our sovereign selves in an excruciating pain …that was the most  icy heat of 1947 that my parents were taught of…My education was my initiation …my baptism …I was not baptized by any religion…

I cannot just overlook…cannot just ignore what I see with my naked eye…

The going was tough …so I was not walking away but this image of hydra headed ambidextrous corruption I was hanging on to…

Wanted to hold on longer to demolish it to dream of the possibilities galore of girl child education …did not want to walk away…

So what did I see…the unholy nexuses between the politicians , local and national and the bureaucrats and petty crony capitalists…It was from the days of Sheila Kaul , the Urban Development Minister from the days of  the Congress Govt. that this bungling started which was a free for all…to dip in sleaze and dirt…actually petty business creatures turning into cronyists ..this was the germ of crony capitalism in the making…where people machinate to siphon off money which does not belong to them and for which they have neither worked nor they have any talent to  get any leverage in any ethical financial and moral terms ..this against all logic and all ethical moral journeys of business and economy and finance…this is plain hooliganism…an illegitimate claim over the resources that do not belong to them but they want to lay their creepy and sleazy hands on them…

The Delhi High Court rubbished their claims and slapped an exemplary cost of one lakh fifty thousand on them because they stalled for 16 years what the Delhi High Court’s Justice Ravindra Bhat in the judgment said was the long cherished dream of the nation that is the Right to Education . The Hon’ble Justice said that an entire generation of school going children ( if the schools had been constructed and allowed to function , the children born in 1994-1995 would have been graduating from 12^th grade by now) in the vicinity have been deprived of this benefit . This is virtually an intolerable and unrestitutive situation. The petition of the vested interest to build flats in high rise buildings on the land that belonged  to education and parks and public amenities was thus missed with costs.

I gave my sweat and blood to the cause …without any personal axe to grind and took the plunge in 2009 in public interest to save 15 acres of public infrastructure land – schools and parks etc. Now there runs a school in 4 acres and another one is being built on more than 4 acres . There is a park in place on about .75 acres . The rest are children’s parks and pathways etc . This was a tough going which made me tougher .

There were hooligans and high handed cheaters who had slapped   a Defamation matter on me and my parents and 2 members of the general public , all of whom I defended. All of this `defamation’ suit because I had called them `land mafia’ which actually signifies to mean all those who try to or grab land without any legitimate or moral or ethical ownership or rights. Finally the matter was dismissed and the court did not hold anything against me.  And effectively speaking,  the group was punished by having their petition for land grabbing  dismissed in the   Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India dismissed in 2012 and 2015 respectively.

This is a story typical of public largesse being grabbed for greedy and immoral and unethical profit. Now once again there are vibes in the air that this land would once again targeted for usurpation. It be not forgotten that about 1500 (fifteen hundred)  girls already study in the school and another one under construction will also have a thousand and more studying here. So let it not be forgotten that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge of baptizing the underdog , comforting and uplifting the underdog should be brought to fruition . This may be drop in the ocean but this can turn into a flow of enlightenment and light as a large number of the underdogs would graduate and join the mainstream…blooming flowers to a garden of education.

The decision of the Delhi High Court which was endorsed and upheld by the Supreme Court cannot be reversed under any circumstances.

Nonetheless it is urged that this flame be protected and a vigilante eye be kept on anybody who tries to be a spoil sport and tries to do the unholy act of having a greedy eye on the said land through underhand and under the table tricks and machinations..
