NATO was a security alliance between NATO and Europe. After the Second World War, the goal of this alliance has been to protect democratic freedom. Europe’s regional order hinged on one question – Should Germany join NATO or Warsaw Pact?

NATO expanded eastwards – Erstwhile Soviet States and European States became NATO members. This led to NATO’s expansion and its presence on the borders of Russia.
